Meet Julio López, DVM, DACVIM
Dr. Julio López was born and raised in Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University.
After receiving his DVM degree, Dr. López returned to Los Angeles to complete a one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at California Animal Hospital Veterinary Specialty Group, followed by a three-year residency in Internal Medicine. He successfully completed the requirements set by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine to become a Board-Certified Specialist.
Dr. López has experience in all aspects of internal medicine with a special interest in diseases of the kidney and bladder, as well as endocrine diseases such as diabetes, Addison’s, Cushing’s and hyperthyroidism. He also has extensive training in ultrasound and the diagnosis and management of heart disease. Dr. López has lectured both nationally and internationally and has authored chapters for The Clinical Veterinary Advisor textbook & The Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Outside of veterinary life he enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling anywhere there is a beach, and keeping up with the Dodgers, Lakers, & 49ers.
